Opposite Self – A Poem

Once, time upon a day that was night clearly,

We climbed to the heights of babel

to be lowered

To the depths of Atlantis

Pacified by the waves of the leviathan

Broke by the truth of our falsity

Bewildered in our depths of contradiction

We soar by the next drift of current

That promises to carry us away from ourselves

Only to swallow us to us

Even so, to those who overcome

Self-forgetfulness is the prize
